Manip Academy 19: Illuminated windowHappy Halloween everyone!neverdying
I was supposed to write about shadows for the Manip Academy, but the subject had already been covered by another artist, but no worries, I had a plan B!
This is a tutorial to create an illuminated window. You will require basic knowledge of Photoshop. Note that this is my first tutorial ever, so it's not perfect.
I hope this tutorial will be helpful to you.
Go Vote! And New ChallengeGROUP NEWSthefantasim
Hello boys, and girls!
I hope you're in a nice Halloween spirit, or not. I just hope everyone is doing very well.
Today, I'm taking the time to tell you what's up with the group now and in the next month.
First, there are some really spooky entries in The "Halloween Bash Contest" contest.
Thanks to you who participated! They really came out great!
I want everyone to be part of the picks for this contest. I've posted a poll on the Home page, and I know that polls go to all members.
So do one of your membership duty, and GO VOTE!. The entry with the most points is our Best Of Show. Then the next three will be First, Second, and Third. All of the others are Honorable Mentions.
ABSOLUTELY NO CANVASING FOR VOTES!
Don't think that I will know, because if I'm just a little suspicious, your entry will be null and void from the contest!

ManipAcademy #17: The Pen Tool And Telling A StoryAbbeyMarie
Written by KingaBritschgi
So far in this wonderful series there have been lots of great tutorials, pieces of information & advice for anyone who would like to perfect their photomanipulation/digital art skills. This time I will be talking about several issues, one concrete and one general, that I find essential in this area.

Although I am not going into technical details concerning Photoshop's Pen Tool I still hope you can find something in this post that can be useful in creating your next masterpiece!
One of my first sentences I always say to my students: Yes, there are lots of selection tools in Photoshop but no matter who says what if

Manip Academy 13: How to make glowing things Hello everybody!CRPhotomanipulation
Today I'm going to show you how to make glowing things. Light is very important in making photomanipulations, so techniques you will know will be useful.
Make base for your glow
Start from making base at new layer, change blending mode to Color dodge. You can use shape brush (here, dragonflies or stars or anything), or normal soft round brush. Then, duplicate it and change blending mode to Linear dodge (Add). After, for better effect draw with big soft round brush dot over your thing and use Color dodge blending mode. You can duplicate layer with glow or layer with glow and base for better effect.
It's important to make good lightning with glowing things. Light isn't strong, but always light up space around.
Also, you can add some particles around glowing things. Just draw basic shape and change blending options, as is shown. Use the natural color spectrum. Base should be bri
