Her expression dominates the image. The other elements catch the viewer's eye but the focus is her face. She seems deeply sad; she has gone through an experience that has caused her disappointment and pain. She's holding a red rose but it seems to be part of the problem - it certainly doesn't make her happy. Perhaps romance became tragedy.
The superior quality of her clothes perhaps shows her quality - though it suggests wealth and that might make some less sympathetic. Surprisingly, she is outside. The wall and the ivy are the outside of a building. It looks like the moon is on the other side of the window. That makes the image surreal. It is symbolic. That works because the moon is quiet and reflective, not bright and strong like the sun. It intensifies her sadness. The ivy on the wall shows neglect - a building going back to nature.
The viewer has to think about the image but it works well. Thanks for making us think about art.
